Ghean Maksimow, co-founder of Bow Genie International, had a flower named in her honor at the International Floriculture Exposition that was held virtually on September 16, 2020. Named, Genie, the lavender breed of dahlia was bred by the Miyoshi Company and Ball SB., a division of Ball Horticultural Company.

Maksimow had a chance to deliver a version of her acceptance speech at the 2021 edition of he International Floriculture Exposition held in Miami Beach. She talked about the importance of the award, what it means to her community and much more.
