A Graduate from McGill University in Montreal, Joaquin earned his degree in Agricultural Economics and has been in the cut flower business since 1986. He started as a grower in Colombia as partner in two farms.
In 1988, Joaquin became a partner in an Italian carnation breeding company SB Talee. Since then, he has been involved in breeding and distribution of planting material for professional cut flower growers around the world.
In 2001, SB Talee formed a joint venture with what was then Geo J Ball, today the Ball Horticultural Company. In 2002 SB Talee left the joint venture and Joaquin has remained as partner and Managing Director of the joint venture with Ball Horticultural.
Today, Ball SB is responsible for sales of Cut Flower planting material in Latina America (exception of Brazil), and East Africa. Also as Ball SB, has become involve in the breeding of certain products such as Gypsophila, Limonium, Alstroemerias and Chrysanthemums. This responsibility has been extended to distribute and promote other Ball owned products in other parts of the world such the USA, South of Europe, Israel, Australia and Asia.
