Rakesh Shalia is the Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience for the Latin America and Caribbean Division at FedEx Express based in Miami, USA. In this role he is responsible for the planning, managing and execution of all marketing-related functions including Brand, Communication, Pricing, Product Development, Strategic Marketing, Digital Experience. Also, he oversees all aspects of customer experience with an integrated view of the business.
Rakesh joined FedEx in 2002 as Senior Marketing Analyst in Strategic Marketing based at the FedEx World headquarters in Memphis, before being promoted to his first FedEx management position as Manager of International Market Development. In 2011, he moved to India as Managing Director of Marketing for the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa division. He returned to US in 2015 to join the Latin America and Caribbean Division as Managing Director – Marketing.
Prior to joining FedEx, Rakesh worked at JP Morgan Chase in New York as a Business Associate in the Risk Management division. In addition, he gained management experience during his tenure in the marketing department at Philip Morris International.
Rakesh received his undergraduate and master's degrees in Mechanical Engineering and a Ph.D. in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Technology, as well as his MBA from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He has published and presented several peer-reviewed research papers, as well.
Rakesh is a member of the Board of Directors for the Junior Achievement of the Americas and the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami. As an avid long-distance runner, he has completed several full marathons.
