IFE remembers the extraordinary life of Bobbi Ecker-Blatchford, AAF, AIFD, PFCI, and mourns with the floral industry over the loss of an icon. Bobbi was honored at the first-ever flower naming ceremony at IFE on June 24, 2010, in a ceremony attended by hundreds of her industry colleagues. Michael Schrader of Schnuck Markets had the honor of addressing the audience and reading a script he prepared to reveal the recipient.
The occasion was also covered in the media by Green Profit, where Bobbi said, “I was completely floored.” The rose was named “High & Icon” and bred by Preesman.

As this rose is named in her honor, let’s take a moment to reflect on who she is and who we are as individuals within our industry. The best gift to receive is that of being mentored. How blessed we have been for the years that she has shared her expertise and mentored us.” – Michael Schrader[/gdlr_quote]
[gdlr_quote align=”center” ]“So, what does this new rose stand for? The bloom reflects rich tones of pink and salmon to match her rosy cheeks. The variant petal shading mimics her curious nature and ability to grow and change. It is fragrant to remind us of the scented blossom that always adorns her attire.” – Michael Schrader[/gdlr_quote]
